Synopsis
Experimental and epidemiological studies suggested sex difference in susceptibility to manufactured nanomaterials and conventional fibrous materials. Sex hormone, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor (NFE2L2, Nrf2) and other unknow factors should be investigated to understand the mechanism of sex difference in susceptibility.

Key words: sexual dimorphism, susceptibility
